Sung-Hoon focuses his practice on the prosecution of patent applications in the electrical and mechanical arts, with a particular focus on biomedical imaging, circuits and signal processing, communications, and optics. Sung-Hoon has extensive experience in writing opinions regarding patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate. Sung-Hoon also has experience in negotiating and drafting patent license agreements, and advising clients on intellectual property policing and enforcement options both domestically and internationally.
Prior to practicing law, Sung-Hoon was a research engineer at LG Electronics in Seoul, Korea, where he was a representative of LG Electronics at the DVD Forum and the Blu-ray Disc Association. He also participated in the standardization of the next-generation Blu-ray disc called BDXL.
During law school, Sung-Hoon spent two summers at IP boutique firms in Chicago and Alexandria, VA as a summer associate.
Sung-Hoon is currently serving as the 9th President of the Korean American Intellectual Property Bar Association (KAIPBA).
Sung-Hoon is an avid tennis fan, and has lived in four different countries including Korea, Canada, the Philippines, and Mexico before settling in the U.S. Sung-Hoon is fluent in Korean and travels frequently to Asia to give lectures to the clients.
